Conference Themes
This conference will be of interest to natural and social scientists, conservationists, students, wildlife managers, environmental planners, and to people in eco-tourism. Other groups and individuals interested in wolves as captivating animals are welcome. There will be hour half day themes of discussion:
1- Wolf Ecology, Management, & Policies.
What can Manitoba learn from our wilderness regions to apply elsewhere, and what can we learn from elsewhere to apply to wolf and carnivore management and building a “Wolf Economy”? What are the global trends in wolf management policies?
2 - Wolves & Polar Bear dynamics along the coast of the Hudson Bay.
What is climate change doing to northern ecosystems? How will northern carnivores be affected?
3 - Defining a Wolf/Carnivore Center of Excellence.
What would it take to become the ideal Wolf Center of Excellence? What are the criteria? Who will be the partners? What are the needs and opportunities?
What can Aboriginal traditional ecological knowledge teach others?
4 - Current & future Wolf Research Projects in unstudied regions.
What are we learning from wolf research in northern Canada and other recent research elsewhere?
